My Musings On War In General

I've been thinking, i was watching saving private ryan, and well, i decided to do some serious thoughts about war. One of the main things, is the dehumanization of your enemy, you are neutralizing a threat, destroying a target, your not killing, taking the life of another human being. Some things needed to be done, like stopping the holocaust. Its one of those things thats worth sending hundreds of thousands of men to their graves for, so that you can be free to worship who you want how you want without having to worry about getting gassed. Also, is the killer instinct they train you to have. You are there in an intense situation, its kill or be killed, you are stripped down to your most primal instincts, stay moving, supress the enemy. War changes men into animals, and machines into weapons. And my final point, is the categorization of your enemy. Racial slurs are commonly used throught wars, from Kraut, to Mic, Wop, you generalize your enemies, so even if someone didnt do anything to you personally, you feel the need to eradicate them, for what their comrades did, who are of the same race, who speak the same language, because it feels better to take the life of a classification than that of an actual human being. End Rant
